OVERVIEW:
Welcome to "The Colours of Death", a captivating and immersive workshop that explores the fascinating world of postmortem phenomena and special effects makeup. This experience invites you to uncover the science behind death and learn the art of recreating its physical signs through makeup and practical effects. Please note, this workshop contains explicit content and graphic imagery.
Part 1: Understanding Postmortem Signs
The first part of the day is dedicated to an in-depth exploration of the four key postmortem physical signs:
1. Pallor Mortis: The paleness of the skin that occurs shortly after death.
2. Algor Mortis: The drop in body temperature postmortem, and the science behind temperature changes.
3. Rigor Mortis: The stiffening of muscles after death, and the physiological processes involved.
4. Livor Mortis: The pooling of blood in the lower parts of the body, resulting in a purple-red discoloration of the skin.
Gain a detailed understanding of these phenomena, their causes, and their timelines in the context of a deceased body.
Part 2: Practical Application and Special Effects
In the afternoon, you will explore the techniques and products used in the film and theatre industry to replicate postmortem effects.
Creating Livor Mortis Makeup: Watch a live demonstration of how to recreate the settling of blood and the distinctive discoloration associated with livor mortis, using professional special effects makeup.
Hands-On Experience: After the demonstration, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with the techniques and products firsthand, under the guidance of experienced makeup artists. This session offers valuable hands-on practice, personalized feedback, and the chance to refine your skills in creating realistic postmortem effects.

Do I need to bring anything?
All necessary materials, including brushes and products, will be provided. If your course includes a practical session, we recommend bringing a smartphone or camera to capture high-quality images of your work.

Will I receive a certificate?
Upon completing the course, you will receive an official Kryolan Certificate of completion. Please note that this certificate is not a formal make-up qualification.

What if I need to cancel?
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, requiring a change in plans. If you need to cancel, we kindly ask that you contact us at your earliest convenience.
